Dear Patients,
Due to your difficulties, there was an indication for implanting cardioverter defibrillator (ICD)
Here you can read all about cardioverter defibrillator (ICD)
Instructions and the implantation procedure is the same as the implantation of the permanent cardiac pacemaker (see: Instructions for patients when implanting permanent pacemaker)
Here you can download and complete the consent forms for cardioverter defibrillator
It is rarely necessary for the patient to briefly receive general anaesthesia (during 3-5 minutes) in order to test some ICD functions. Whether the patient will receive general anaesthesia depends on the diagnosis and assessment of the cardiologist.
If an arrhythmia is caused during the procedure, it can be successfully interrupted.
If you have questions about your cardioverter-defibrillator, you can always contact your doctor or nurse.
